For a lot of people, deciding where to go on vacation can seem like a daunting task so, we have put together a number of things to consider, to hopefully make the decision process much easier for you.
FINANCES
One of the first things to consider when trying to figure out your travel destination, should be your finances. Some people periodically set aside a certain sum of money towards a vacation, and others don’t, but regardless of which side of the coin you are on, you need to take a good look at your finances to see how much money you can afford to spend.
BUCKET LIST
Once you have complete clarity on how much money is available for you to use, the next thing to do is pull out your bucket list.
-
Where have you always wanted to visit? Indonesia, Bali? Greece? Ghana? Where? Most people will have more than one answer to that question and that’s fine.
-
What you should do is take things one step at a time. For example, if you have always wanted to visit say both Ghana and Greece, you can start by first focusing your research efforts on Ghana, before turning your attention to Greece.
-
Find out how much it will cost to visit both countries, then compare. Which one best fits your travel budget?
ROOTS
If you don’t have a bucket list of places you want to visit or if for some reason, you have already visited all the places on your bucket list, what you should do is perhaps consider going to your native country (where your parents or ancestors are originally from). It could be they are originally from a country in Africa, or South America, or some place else, so if the bucket list option doesn’t work for you, this might. Consider it!
SAFETY
Safety should always be a priority no matter what. If there’s a particular country that you have always hoped to visit, but there has been some negative news about the country, we would encourage you to do your own research. Often times, it’s not every single place or city in a country that’s unsafe. Don’t let fear hold you back. Narrow things down to the particular cities and places you hope to visit in that country, and do your in-depth research to see how safe they are.
HOSPITALITY
If you are going to spend your hard-earned money to go on a vacation that you hope to be relaxing, exciting, and memorable, then it’s important that you go to a place where the people have a welcoming attitude towards foreigners. It’s very true that two people can go to a place and both have different experiences, so you have to keep that in mind when trying to find out how hospitable a place is.
